The 10th season of American Idol has concluded just recently. Aside from discovering some new and fresh stars in the music industry, the decade-long running competition indeed has established beyond doubt that country music is not a thing of the past, that country singers still have places to go, and that there still is a good market for country music.
It is contrary to the impression that the youth of today in America are more into rock ‘n roll, pop, and hip-hop kinds of music. Different genres of music occupy some space in the hearts of people. And this year in American Idol, country music has emerged as the most preferred or perhaps we can say that it is preferred by the largest number of Americans.
After the voting was closed, it was time to dim the light while the two remaining contenders stood right in front of the gazing Americans and feeling nervous. It was like the world has stopped turning that night.
When the time came, no one and nothing can stop Mr. Ryan Seacrest from pronouncing this year’s American Idol so that the people may know. The American Idol Season 10 is Scotty McCreery! Ryan’s voice echoed throughout the Nokia Theatre followed by the jubilant cheers created by the crowd.
The 17 year old Scotty from North Carolina won the title and a recording contract. True enough, this cute guy with a boyish look and a smile that could melt the hearts of women has taught us a profound lesson—one can’t give his best unless he stays true to himself. From the very start, Scotty never attempted to be who he was not.
