Half the world rejoices the other half mourns. Well, those who have basketball blood that is. The underdog has won and the mighty has fallen. The NBA 2011 Champions are the Dallas Mavericks and for the first time in history they have championship bragging rights for the year.
A lot of people were rooting for the Mavericks because some felt that the Miami Heat had a lot going for them and people simply love underdogs especially if they have what it takes to succeed. The Mavs may not have Crish Bosh, Lebron James and Dwayne Wade but they had a bunch of good players who really played as a team to beat the Heat. Of course Dirk Nowitzki shone during this season and earned his rightful place as this year’s Most Valuable Player playing the best defense for the Mavericks that lead the whole team in trampling the much rated team of the Miami Heat.
The Mavericks’ win must have been a tough pill to swallow for the Heat because numerous times the Big three kept on saying that they are sure that they will win multiple championships. Now experts and fans are touting James as an over-rated player. The 10 points that the Mavericks dumped on the Heat is more than enough to make basketball fans admit that indeed this year is the season for the Mavs to shine plus they get to have their very first Championship rings.
Of course being the second best is not an easy feat. After all, the Heat had to beat a lot of other teams to get to the finals but still being second best is nowhere near than being the best. Congratulations to the Mavericks. 105-95 on the sixth game and winning four of those six games is a definitive win.
